Entertain Them is a 7,5k sad horror story. I feel the story would've been better with a different cover art, but I suppose there are few ways in which you could interpret the title. Also Tavibutt.
Let me start off by saying that you should definitely read this story. You don't need to read the other two. Entertain Them is excellent in the way it presents the misery of this world and dashes in just the tiniest sliver of hope.
One thing I liked a lot is how much is told of this universe in just small lines of dialogue that feel so natural to the conversation. Octavia is recounting how she's fared in this overrun Canterlot and in just a few lines you get a full picture of the downfall of the city. It's great.
Now, for spoilers. Holy shit, I cannot imagine suffering as much as Vinyl has. Getting trapped, unable to use your magic, and slowly languishing until you're near death, but then you come across one of your dearest friends, and thinking you will be saved, only to to be thrust into utter chaos and insanity, and in your last moments you succumb to the disease in a desperate attempt to attain freedom.
I love this story. It's been the best of the series so far, and I have high hopes for the rest.
