Daring Do and the Curse of Ahuizotl is a 1,337 word Horror story. In it, Daring finally gets the upper hand over Ahuizotl, only to find out there was more to her nemesis than she thought.
Normally, with these super short horror stories, you get a barely set up premise with a subpar execution that relies on shock or a sudden twist to leave an impression. That wasn't really the case here. Here, all elements worked properly.
What starts as a regular Daring Do adventure takes a turn when Ahuizotl gets crushed by falling debris. Daring takes this chance to gloat and feel righteous since Ahuizotl killed her father. Very emotional stuff.
We then get a flashback that shows how Daring's dad swore revenge on Ahuizotl after the blue guy tricked Dadring into killing his friend.
And then! We get to the end. An end that recontextualises the entire story and leaves you wondering. Wondering how what we're shown is supposed to relate to the Ahuizotl we know from the show. I don't feel it does, and it just creates lots of unnecessary questions.
However, the story is still really good. Even if it's only really good in a bubble.
